The Willamette Valley Visitors Association is now holding its seventh annual ornament hunt across non-wilderness trails in the Willamette and Umpqua national forests through Christmas Day .
The group has hidden 200 locally crafted wooden ornaments across the national forests. They can be found in the following ranger districts:
- Detroit
- Sweet Home
- McKenzie River and Middle Fork of the Willamette National Forest
- Cottage Grove on the Umpqua National Forest
This year’s theme celebrates mountain bikers and advancements made toward making hiking and mountain biking trails in Oregon more accessible.
Ornament hunters can find details on the association’s website about registering their ornament to win the grand prize of a two-day getaway to the Willamette Valley.

The association also offers ornaments that can be bought at tourism offices throughout the Willamette Valley. All proceeds will go to Cascade Volunteers, a nonprofit organization supporting trail keepers and trail maintenance through education, training, and connection.
