Popular Potato Chip Brand Recalled Over ‘Life-Threatening’ Production Error

Just a week ahead of December holiday gatherings, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers of a recall affecting one of the most popular brands of potato chips.

Earlier this week, the organization issued a “limited recall” for 13-ounce bags (or “Party Size” bags) of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips, as certain packages may contain an undeclared allergen: milk.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” Frito-Lay warned in a statement.

Affected bags are marked with lot codes 6462307xx or 6463307xx and include a “Guaranteed Fresh” date that reads “11 FEB 2025.” Customers who are in possession of bags branded with matching information and who have allergies to milk should discard the product.

According to the recall, affected bags were sold in retail and e-commerce stores in Oregon and Washington and were available for purchase as early as Nov. 3, 2024. Frito-Lay told FOX Business that over 6,000 bags are included.
