PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s the big travel week leading up to Christmas and there is good news! Snow levels will rise above pass level Monday and remain there into Christmas Day. That means no major travel issues around the valleys and through the mountains passes at least through Wednesday.
Snowfall levels will drop later in the week as snow returns to the Cascade passes after Christmas. Winter driving conditions are possible by Thursday and beyond.
An overall wetter week is on the way as several systems will slide through the Pacific Northwest this week bringing heavy rain at times.
As for the Willamette Valley, Monday will feature mostly dry conditions in the morning and early afternoon before the next storm system arrives late in the afternoon and into the evening. Expect around a half-inch of rainfall from the first system moving through later Monday and into Tuesday morning.
Temperatures will remain above normal this coming week. High temperatures will top out in the low- to mid-50s from the Oregon Coast through the valley on Monday.
