Lebanon County skill games set to shutter Oct. 14 as deadline nears

Perseverance Fire Company Social Club in Jonestown, known as The Perse, is poised to lose $50,000 annually in skill games revenue starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, when those machines become illegal to operate.

On June 15, 2026, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a landmark decision, reversing two Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court decisions and holding that “skill game” devices are “slot machines” under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act.

As part of its June ruling, the court had stayed its order for 120 days to provide the General Assembly time to develop legislation that addresses the estimated 70,000 skill game devices operating in the commonwealth. That stay ends Tuesday, Oct. 13, and Pennsylvania State Police will begin enforcement the next day…
