New York man sentenced to seven years in prison for 2020 Pennsylvania drug case

SAYRE, Pa. ( WETM ) — A New York State man was sentenced to years in prison and parole on drug charges following his arrest in December 2020.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 43-year-old Ernest Denson was sentenced to a minimum of two years and six months (30 months) to a maximum of seven years in prison for the charge of drug possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine.

The report states that Denson was arrested in Sayre in December 2020 on drug charges after an incident on Spring Street in Sayre Borough.

Pennsylvania sentences typically list the minimum and maximum sentences, with the release saying the defendant will usually serve the minimum sentence in prison before being released to serve the remainder of the sentence on parole, case-dependent.

Officials say this case took so long to prosecute because Denson was already in prison in New York on things unrelated to this case.
