Tranquil and mild the next few days

The extended period will be marked by increasingly mild temperatures into the weekend with a couple rounds of rain chances by then. A surface low tracking across the northern Great Lakes will bring a warm front into the region Thursday. Southerly flow in the wake of the front will draw even milder air into the area, although it may be accompanied by increased cloudiness as moisture is advected into the region. A few showers are possible later Friday, especially across the western mountains. Much of central PA will likely see highs approach or top the 50-degree mark Thursday and Friday, which is 10 to 20 above average for early February standards. Gusty southwest winds will continue to pump milder air into the region through Saturday with highs soaring into the 50s to near 60 on Saturday afternoon.
