There has been another ham recall, the last major ham recall came right in time for the holidays as Kirkland Signature Ham may have been contaminated with Listeria. This recall may be just as dangerous for folks who have to watch what they eat as FSIS announces a mislabeled Hormel Spiced Ham may trigger a potentially dangerous allergic reaction.
Hormel Spiced Ham with Natural Juices does not contain milk, at least it should not contain any milk. Recently retail deli employees observed cheese a milk product in the spiced deli ham during slicing and their establishment notified FSIS. It is unknown at this time how cheese wound up in the ham product. The issue is milk, a known allergen is not declared on the label. A milk allergy can trigger Anaphylaxis, a rare, potentially life-threatening reaction that impairs breathing and can send the body into shock.
The ready-to-eat spiced deli ham product was packaged on November 17, 2023 and has a use by date of 5/14/24. Images can be found at FSIS.
