WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — While Governor Josh Shapiro was in Luzerne County Wednesday, he addressed the pro-Palestine protests taking place on college campuses across the nation.

He also talked about what he is doing in Pennsylvania to ensure the protests stay peaceful.

“My administration has been in close contact with universities here in PA both reminding them of their responsibilities under state law and federal law to keep their students safe and free from discrimination and making sure that the rules of the local community and the rules of the commonwealth of PA are adhered to every step of the way,” Governor Shapiro explained.

He says there should be a place for peaceful protests, but what we are seeing in some cases are people using it as an excuse to engage in antisemitism.
