Senate confirms Pa. Secretary of Health

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The role of Secretary of Health for Pennsylvania has been officially filled since the departure of Dr. Rachel Levine.

After a vote Monday, acting Health Secretary Debra Bogen was named Secretary of Health after Governor Josh Shapiro nominated her a year and a half ago.

There were 42 yeas and eight nays.

Bogen came from the Allegheny County Health Department where she served as director and she has twenty years under her belt as being a member of the Pittsburgh region medical and research community.

Now, Levine is assistant secretary for health with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services after President Joe Biden in Jan. 2021 appointed her.
