CNN special correspondent Jamie Gangel told CNN commentator Scott Jennings the real reason why Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro was not picked as Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate on Tuesday after Jennings suggested it was due to anti-Semitism.
After Harris announced on Tuesday that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz would serve as her 2024 running mate, Jennings – a former staffer for President George W. Bush – claimed on CNN that Harris couldn’t pick Shapiro “because the party is somewhat awash in anti-Semitism.”
“Kamala Harris absolutely bowed down to the radical left in her party by not picking Shapiro, who is Jewish. There was a nasty campaign run against him,” he said. “Everybody knows it, no one wants to admit it, but everybody knows it, and she wound up choosing the person who was not Jewish and not as talented.”
A few minutes later, as Jennings tried to interrupt former Obama senior adviser David Axelrod , who rejected Jennings’ assertion, Gangel raised her hand and protested:
