California Woman Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine Distribution in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, RI – In a significant development in a federal drug case, Nora Cecilia Carranza Reyes, a 52-year-old woman from California, admitted her involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy in Rhode Island. United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha announced that Reyes pled guilty to charges related to the distribution and possession of methamphetamine.

During a court hearing, Reyes confessed to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and to possessing it with the intent to distribute. This admission stems from an incident in June 2022, where Reyes was implicated in distributing over three pounds of crystal methamphetamine in Rhode Island.

The court was informed that under surveillance by law enforcement, Carranza Reyes, along with another accomplice, delivered a brown paper bag containing over three pounds of crystal methamphetamine. This package was handed over to an individual from Maine who had come to Rhode Island specifically to collect it. Intriguingly, the drug transaction was reportedly orchestrated by a person incarcerated in a Maine correctional facility at the time.
