Karen Santilli stepping down as Crossroads CEO to lead YMCA

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Two well-known organizations in Rhode Island will soon have new leaders.

Crossroads Rhode Island , which provides housing and services for people experiencing homelessness, announced Thursday that Karen Santilli is stepping down as CEO after nine years.

Concurrently, the YMCA of Greater Providence (GPYMCA) announced that it’s hired Santilli as its next CEO.

Crossroads said it’s been able to help find housing for thousands of Rhode Islanders as a result of Santilli’s work over the years.

“Karen has been an impactful CEO and strong advocate for our state’s homeless population,” Crossroads Board Chair Julie Duffy wrote in a news release. “Thanks to her transformative leadership, the organization has a very experienced senior management team, sound finances, and an ambitious housing development plan that will allow us to continue to provide housing and related services to more than 4,000 men, women and children each year.”

“I’m incredibly proud of the number of people that Crossroads has been able to house during my 16 years here, including the last nine as CEO,” Santilli said in the release.
