RI’s only Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza closes

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Garden City Center has closed its doors for good, 12 News has learned.

The Hillside Road pizzeria, which was the franchise’s only Rhode Island location, did not elaborate on what prompted the sudden closure.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza encouraged guests online to visit other nearby locations. The next closest restaurant to Rhode Island is in Westwood, Mass.

It’s unclear what will eventually replace the restaurant, which shared a building with L.L. Bean and Jos A. Bank.

The restaurant is primarily known for its pizza and wings, which are cooked in a coal-fired oven, as well as other signature Italian dishes.
