RI spot among best islands in the world, per Condé Nast Traveler. It’s not Block Island.

Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards are out, and an island in Rhode Island was named a worldwide favorite – but it isn’t Block Island.

The magazine’s ranking of its readers’ favorite islands in North America was released Tuesday, and one spot in Rhode Island made the list, even beating out some of the Hawaiian islands.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are an annual ranking of travel destinations around the world, including hotels, resorts, cruise lines, cities and spas.

Condé Nast Traveler said its readers cast more than 575,000 votes for this year’s awards. Winners are scored based on overall satisfaction and given an overall percentage out of 100.

Aquidneck Island was named the No. 7 favorite, earning a score of 89.56.

While the article didn’t go into details about why Aquidneck Island was selected by readers, it’s safe to assume the Newport was one of the main reasons it made the cut. Between the beaches, tourists attractions such as the mansion, beautiful views and tons of restaurants , it’s a fan favorite.
