It’s Election Day. We’ve got you covered

Good morning, I’m Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing.

In case you didn’t know, today is Election Day.

The months – or in the case of some candidates, years – of campaigning finally come to an end. And while we’re likely to have most if not all local results in tonight, it could be a couple of days before a winner is declared in the race for president as other states work through their ballot counting process.

How does the process work in Rhode Island? The Journal’s Patrick Anderson explains the work done by the Rhode Island Board of Elections once the polls close at 8 p.m.

What people most care about at that time is the results and we’ve got you covered. Our live results tracker, has every race across the state covered. You’ll also find our Election Day results page that includes a map graphic that will help you see just how some of the biggest races including the race for president are playing out across the state. Open that tab now and keep it handy for 8 p.m. or bookmark it so you’re ready to go.
