PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — With temperatures dropping and heating costs expected to climb , Rhode Island Energy is offering its customers a way to save on their bills while staying warm this winter.
The utility provider says Rhode Islanders can go to its website or call 1-888-633-7947 to schedule a free home energy assessment.
How it works
Once you book an appointment, a specialist will come to your home, evaluate your current energy usage and look for ways to lower your heating costs. That could include making adjustments to your day-to-day habits and eliminating drafts in your home.
“We know energy bills are going up, so a good way to save money is to make sure the heat that you are buying doesn’t escape from the house,” consumer advocate Kate Felder told 12 News.
Experts: Heat likely to cost at least 10% more than last winter
Rhode Island Energy customers will receive energy-efficient products like advanced power strips, low-flow showerheads and programmable thermostats at no cost.
