Coastal Storm Grazes Southeast New England With Accumulating Snow
12/20/24 4:27pm EST
Good afternoon everyone. As forecasted and discussed, we are watching a transfer of energy to the coast with low pressure from an old clipper-like system that brought heavy snows to the Upper Midwest.
We’ll have none of that this time around for the Northeast & New England, but we are seeing some enhanced snows across parts of southeast Massachusetts and eastern Rhode Island. Light to moderate snow is falling, and we’re even seeing a little heavier burst of snow occurring south of the Boston, MA area.
Overall, 1-4″ is expected to fall in this region, with a few heavier amounts possible where we see that prolonged embedded moderate to heavy snow band set up. For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in regards until 4am late overnight/early morning across extreme southeast New England.
Look for the continuation of light to moderate snow, with a few heavier bursts and some bigger flakes. After this, very cold air heads in for the rest of tomorrow through Monday, with some frigid overnight temps expected in the teens.
