CNN host Abby Philip tore into Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-SC) “ever-changing loyalty” on Friday after Mace attacked her former “friend” and “mentor” Nikki Haley, branding her “China’s favorite governor.”
“Just like the tides on Myrtle Beach, Nancy Mace’s loyalty, it comes and it goes,” said Phillip on CNN NewsNight. “And a reminder, the South Carolina congresswoman recruited Nikki Haley to help her get elected in 2022, when Donald Trump was the one who backed Mace’s primary opponent. Trump at the time called Mace ‘crazy’ and ‘terrible.’ Now fast forward to now.”
As the chyron read, “The ever-changing loyalty of South Carolina’s Nancy Mace,” Phillip then played a clip of Mace at a Trump rally this week calling Haley “China’s favorite governor” and saying, “If she had her way, South Carolina would be manufacturing spy balloons right here in our state.”
The CNN host mocked, “What a difference a year and some political wins make when Mace used to be all over Charleston about Haley’s credentials.”
Phillip proceeded to play a compilation of clips of Mace praising Haley, calling the former South Carolina governor “a rockstar,” “a good friend,” “a good mentor,” and “a great leader.”
