Satire – Seagulls Outlawed on South Carolina Beaches in Unprecedented Move

In an unexpected move that has left both wildlife experts and beachgoers scratching their heads, the South Carolina legislature has passed a law banning seagulls from all state beaches. The bill, which was passed with overwhelming support, cites “the need for a more serene and quiet beach experience” as the primary reason for this avian exclusion.

Governor Jim Seabird, who signed the bill into law, stated in a press conference, “We’ve had enough of these noisy birds stealing picnics and interrupting peaceful naps. It’s time our beaches become a seagull-free zone.”

The law, set to take effect next month, mandates that all seagulls must vacate the beaches during daylight hours. The Department of Natural Resources is tasked with enforcing this law, which includes potential fines for seagulls who refuse to comply.

Local bird enthusiast and self-proclaimed “seagull whisperer,” Betty Wingfield, expressed her concerns: “It’s preposterous! How do you tell a bird where it can and can’t go? Next, they’ll be banning dolphins for splashing too loudly.”
