GREENVILLE S.C. (WSPA) – South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham plans to visit Eagle Pass Texas on Friday, with Sen. Tim Scott. Graham said he’s never been more concerned about an attack on our nation than he is right now.
Graham’s visit comes following the House of Representatives vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who many Republicans blame for the influx of illegal immigrants at the border.
“We went from the most secure border in 2020 to an absolute disaster,” Graham said. “The highest illegal crossings in the history of the country occurred in December, just a couple of months ago.”
According to statistics, border crossings hit a decades-long low point during 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but have steadily risen in the years since. The number of recorder border crossings dipped in January, according to government data.
Graham called the border crisis, the biggest threat to national security. He said Mayorkas has done a ‘disastrous job’ but President Biden is also to blame.
