On April 2, 2022, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigators found the body of 21-year-old Charity Southerland who had been shot to death in front of her 3-year-old son Raheem.
“Raheem was in the room when his own father came in and shot his mom to death. No one really knows how long Raheem was awake and left there with his mom’s body,” Charity Southerland’s sister Jessica Kemp said on a GoFundMe page for the child . “He was covered in her blood, probably trying to wake her up, not knowing what was going on or why his mom wouldn’t wake up and give him good morning kisses like she always did.”
