Investigations Underway After Multiple Tragic Traffic Accidents Strike South Carolina

Police Searching for Vehicle Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run:

Authorities have released new details regarding a fatal pedestrian accident in Beaufort County. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday on S.C. 170, Okatie Highway, near U.S. 278.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), a 2015 Toyota sedan traveling west struck a pedestrian, identified as Nancy Carrion-Gallegos, 32, of Peru, who was crossing the road. Moments later, a second vehicle also hit Carrion-Gallegos and then fled the scene.

On Wednesday, SCHP shared that the suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a 2007 to 2009 Toyota Camry, with possible damage to the left front end. The vehicle, whose color is unknown, was seen traveling west on S.C. 170 towards Bluffton after the crash.

Authorities Investigating Following Fatal Saluda Collision:

A 78-year-old man died following a rough-terrain vehicle (RTV) accident on Wednesday, according to the Saluda County Coroner’s Office. The crash happened just outside Saluda’s city limits on Highway 378 and Columbia Highway near Barr Woods Road at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
