iTeach conference gives South Carolina high school students an up close look at teaching

High school students from across South Carolina gathered at Roper Mountain Science Center in Greenville Thursday for the annual iTeach Conference for Future Educators.

“Today, we are introducing our teacher cadets to the world of coding and robotics through hands-on learning with Wonder Workshop Robots,” said Avis Candy-Duck of the Greenville County School District (GCSD) instructional technology department. “This session will empower future educators with skills and confidence tointegrate cutting-edge technology in their classrooms.

The one-day iTeach conference, in its 16th year, was designed specifically for future teachers and featured interactive workshops, college booths, lunch-and-learn sessions, and scholarship workshops. Jaheim President, a Berea Middle School history teacher, was the conference keynote speaker. President rose to fame after he was featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and received a college scholarship that put him on the path to teaching.
