Annual butterfly release for ovarian cancer

The whisper of a butterfly’s wings is often how the symptoms of ovarian cancer are described. “The butterfly has become a symbol for ovarian cancer, because it was known as the silent disease, but as education of this disease has improved it’s now called the whispering and that’s why we release butterflies because the symptoms are vague and often, similar to the sound of a butterfly’s wings,” says Cherie Nettles, Ovarian Cancer Coalition board member and ovarian cancer survivor.
