Ex-SC Chamber of Commerce CEO arrested for domestic assault

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – South Carolina’s former Chamber of Commerce president and CEO was arrested in early September on assault charges, according to an incident report.

Bob Morgan, who resigned from the chamber in June, was charged with domestic violence in the 2nd degree following the Sept. 4 incident.

Georgetown County deputies responded to a home on Pawley’s Island about a domestic dispute. When the responding deputy arrived, he was met by Morgan, who was slurring his words, according to an incident report.

The deputy asked where the victim was and went to check on her. When he approached, the victim ran towards him, saying she was scared.

A black eye and popped blood vessels were visible in the woman’s eye, the report states.

The woman told the officer it all started when she threw his phone because she found out Morgan was cheating on her. He then punched her three times. She broke free, but he caught her again and punched her twice more.

Morgan also threw the victim’s phone when she was trying to call 911, the report says.
