South Carolina pilots called in to assist FEMA in surveying storm damage across the state.
The Civil Air Patrol’s South Carolina Wing Air Crew Members assisted FEMA this past week by flying personnel out around the state to survey damages.
The flights spanned multiple days from Thursday, October 3rd through Saturday, October 5th.
Over the course of the flights, damage was assessed and photos were taken across over 28 affected counties in the state to assist in determining where assistance was most needed.
Oconee County Emergency Management Director Scott Krein was part of these flights, where he stated that “The opportunity to see the damage from the air was valuable to the relief effort. Seeing the extent of the damage allows for a more efficient allocation of resources to get where they need to be.
