COLUMBIA S.C. (WSPA) – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety honored law enforcement officers into the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame.
Seven officers are being recognized for over 200 combined years of public service, including the first woman to ever be inducted:
- Director Alvin A. Taylor – S.C. Department of Natural Resources (1977-2019)
- Chief William C. “Bill” Mobley – York Police Department (1967-2010)
- Lieutenant M.B. “Sonny” Huggins III – SC Law Enforcement Division (1973-2000)
- Lieutenant Horace P. “Hoss” Horton Jr. – S.C. Law Enforcement Division (1974-2007)
- Chief Wendell Davis – Orangeburg Department of Public Safety (1981-2014)
- Colonel Anna J. Amos – S.C. State Transport Police (1983-2008)
- Sheriff R. Eugene Johnson – Laurens County Sheriff’s Office (1961-1984/1989-1992)
“It’s a tremendous honor, something that i never thought would happen,” Chief Wendall Davis said. “You know, you don’t go into a profession with an end goal in mind such as a Hall of Fame honor. it’s a very humbling thing.”
