Small plane from SC lands on snowy highway in NY

SOUTH CAROLINA ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A small twin-engine plane from South Carolina landed on a snowy highway Friday afternoon in Albany, New York.

According to FlightAware, the plane left from Winnsboro, South Carolina (FDW) at 8:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, with a scheduled landing for 12:45 p.m. at Albany International Airport (ALB)

“A small plane landed on the northbound Thruway (I-87) between exits 22 and 23 in Albany. Emergency responders are on scene. The right lane is currently closed,” police shared .

New York State Police confirmed to Queen City News’ sister station NEWS10 that three people were on board the plane and no injuries have been reported.

The small plane landed on the Thruway after reportedly encountering engine trouble. The plane has since been moved from the area.

Another plane had to make an emergency landing at the Albany International Airport about an hour later, NEWS10 reported . According to the NY airport, the plane had a nose gear alert, which was checked and no issue was found. That plane landed safely.
