As warm weather settles in South Carolina, it signals the perfect opportunity for a trip to the beach. Of course, if you lean toward cooler mountain escapes, that’s an option too. However, for beach enthusiasts, there’s nothing quite like feeling the soft sand beneath your feet while listening to the rhythmic sounds of the ocean waves. Here in the Palmetto State, we are fortunate to have some of the finest beaches in the country. Read on to discover some exciting activities to enjoy at Edisto Beach.
If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of crowded beaches, parking hassles, noisy nightlife, and heavy traffic, Edisto Beach is the ideal destination! It may just be the most charming beach town in South Carolina, especially when warm weather invites visitors.
Alongside Pawleys Island and a few remote islands that only accessible by boat, Edisto remains a hidden gem that has successfully maintained its unspoiled charm, steering clear of overdevelopment and excessive tourist traffic.

It’s a location where, if you’re looking for accommodations, your best bet is to rent a house, or…

Make the most of your time at Edisto Beach State Park.

The park boasts seven fully equipped cabins and two campgrounds offering over 100 campsites, with select sites accommodating RVs. The campgrounds are positioned along the beach (Beach Campground) and within the salt marsh area (Live Oak Campground).
Edisto Beach State Park, with its refreshing ocean breezes, transforms any summer day into a taste of paradise. Stroll along the park’s 4.2-mile trail system to discover the beauty of the marsh, a lush maritime forest, and plenty of soft sand beneath your feet.

Looking for a more secluded beach experience? Venture off the island for a few miles and enjoy a brief drive to Botany Bay. There, you’ll embark on a short trail of under a mile that leads you to a unique beach setting unlike any other in the area.

(Note: Dogs are prohibited at Botany Bay to protect nesting birds. Please leave your furry friend at home, as they cannot be left in the car.)
After a delightful day soaking up the sun at Edisto Beach, you’re bound to be feeling hungry. Luckily, there are numerous great spots nearby to satisfy your cravings!

If you’re in the mood for some delicious Mexican cuisine or a refreshing margarita, Tortuga’s Mexican Grill is an excellent option.

Sea Cow Eatery is an excellent option as well.

Enjoy a variety of dishes including salads, seafood, sandwiches, and more from this cherished island restaurant.

Alternatively, visit another Edisto landmark that has been a fixture since 1948: Whaley’s.

Renowned for its selection of the freshest seafood, alongside delicious burgers and more, Whaley’s offers a casual, welcoming atmosphere where guests instantly feel at ease as soon as they walk through the door.
