South Dakota Senate Bill will help felons acquire trade licenses and begin careers

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem signed Senate Bill 57 on Wednesday morning. This bill generally prohibits professional agencies and administrations from denying convicted felons from obtaining licenses to practice trade work such as plumbing, welding, and similar jobs. The bill’s proponents hope that this change will simultaneously provide a boost to the trade labor market while helping former prisoners who have completed their sentences to find meaningful employment.
