RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – It was much calmer today than last night! Whether you were under a thunderstorm or not, 50+ mph winds blew through town for many of us! A little bit of shower and thunderstorm activity happened earlier today. A storm strengthened as it left Haakon County around 5 to 6 pm & a quick, heavy shower built up right over our station around 6 pm thanks to a cold front swinging through our area. Outside of that, and thankfully, it looks much calmer and cooler temperature-wise for folks who want to beat the heat. We continue that theme with a bit of a spring-like feel. However, that does not last forever, as the heat will return quickly!
