SD Lawmakers Frustrated Over Hurricane Misinformation

(Sioux Falls, SD) – The Mount Rushmore State is more than a thousand miles from where Hurricanes Helene and Milton, but that’s not stopping lawmakers in South Dakota from expressing frustration over the amount of misinformation. Senator Mike Rounds debunked the claim that FEMA is out of money, noting there’s at least 20-billion-dollars available. Congressman Dusty Johnson says it’s untrue that assistance is capped at 750-dollars, explaining that’s an amount provided immediately to disaster victims for urgent needs. Senator John Thune suggests that citizens reach out to local city and county officials for the most reliable information following a disaster.
