Two Johnsons are far apart in campaign spending

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — Their last names are the same, but the financial conditions of the campaigns of Republican U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson and Democratic challenger Sheryl Johnson look very different heading into the November 5 election.

Dusty Johnson has raised much more and spent much more on his run for a fourth term in the U.S. House than Sheryl Johnson has on her first run, according to their reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Sheryl Johnson reported that her main campaign account raised $194,980.74 and spent $186,728.97 between the start of her campaign on March 7, 2023, and October 16, 2024, closing the period with $8,251.77 cash on hand.

Dusty Johnson reported that his main campaign account raised $4,038,726.21 and spent $1,310,927.78 between January 1, 2023, and October 16, 2024, closing the period with $5,050,012.19 cash on hand.

During the same period, his federal-level Victory Committee reported receiving $998,500 and expending $993,156.92 , including $909,723 that was transferred to other committees, and closed the period with $5,343.08 cash on hand.
