Weekend cold and snow

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) –Snow will continue to develop in western and central South Dakota this evening and tonight.

It will be a cold overnight with lows falling to the single digits above and below zero.  Throw in any wind (which will be light) and wind chills will be in the minus teens to minus 20s.

Snow is likely in western, central, and south-central South Dakota tomorrow.  Eastern to northeast KELOLAND will have a harder time getting snow as drying northeast winds are expected.   Highs tomorrow will be in the single digits and teens.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES are in effect for western, central and south central KELOLAND. These start tonight and last until noon on Sunday. Areas of blowing snow will be possible as winds gust over 20 mph.

The heaviest snow will lineup from northwest South Dakota to south central South Dakota. Northeast winds will help keep a lot of the snow away from eastern KELOLAND.

For those that will get snow, it will come to an end on Sunday.  Clearing skies will slowly move north to south as temperatures remain cold with highs in the single digits and teens.
