During a recent Senate Republican press briefing, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) voiced apprehension regarding the utilization of migrants by blue states to influence congressional representation and federal funding.
Senator Blackburn highlighted the practice of blue cities with open borders actively welcoming illegal immigrants as a strategy to counter declining populations.
“With this wide-open border, one of the things that concern us is the way these blue cities that are losing population are welcoming illegal immigrants into their community,” Senator Blackburn stated.
The Tennessee Republican went on to explain the motivation behind this approach, asserting that blue states and sanctuary cities aim to use migrants as replacements for individuals who have chosen to leave, particularly during the census period.
“This means keeping congressional seats and keeping federal dollars,” Senator Blackburn emphasized.
Acknowledging Senator Bill Hagerty’s (R-TN) initiatives in addressing the issue through legislation, Senator Blackburn expressed her appreciation for shedding light on the manipulation of census data.
