Tennessee Commits to Deploying Two Additional Waves of State Active-Duty Soldiers

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee made a trip to Eagle Pass, Texas, today to discuss and receive updates on the current border crisis, which is widely regarded as one of the most severe the United States has faced in recent decades.

Governor Lee joined his Texas counterpart, Governor Greg Abbott, along with twelve other governors, to discuss how states can address the security concerns due to the federal government’s ineffective leadership.

Furthermore, Governor Lee has expressed his commitment to further assisting Texas’ ongoing efforts to strengthen border security. As part of this commitment, he has announced plans to deploy two additional waves of Tennessee National Guard troops to help support Texas.

The Tennessee Department of Military is working with Texas authorities to finalize specific details, such as a timeline and the areas where the troops will be most needed. It is expected that the first wave of Tennessee National Guard volunteers will be ready to deploy to the border within the next sixty days.
