MARYVILLE, TN – According to a press release issued by the U.S. Marshals on Friday, February 9, 2024, the U.S. Marshals are intensifying efforts to bring Kenneth Dehart, 42, to justice, offering a substantial $10,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest.
Dehart is accused of fatally shooting Blount County Deputy Greg McCowan and injuring Deputy Shelby Eggers during a routine traffic stop on Thursday evening.
After the incident, Dehart fled the scene, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
The U.S. Marshals (USMS) have been collaborating with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to track down the fugitive.
The reward for information has now surged to over $75,000, with contributions from various entities.
The U.S. Marshals, Blount County Sheriff’s Office, and Knox County Sheriff’s Office each contribute $10,000, Smith & Wesson offers a substantial $40,000, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation contributes $2,500, and the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers pledges $2,000.
