Tennessee turns over probe into failed Graceland sale to federal authorities

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee attorney general’s office says it turned over its investigation into the failed sale of Elvis Presley’s home Graceland at a foreclosure auction to federal authorities. The Commercial Appeal newspaper reports an aide to Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said the investigation of the attempted foreclosure sale was a matter best suited for federal law enforcement. A judge blocked a company’s attempt to sell Presley’s former-home-turned museum after his granddaughter filed a lawsuit claiming fraud. The company claimed Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, took out a sizeable loan using Graceland as collateral and failed to repay it before she died. It wasn’t immediately clear which federal authorities would be investigating.
