Tennessee voters hand wins to incumbents in all nine US House seats

Tennessee voters maintained the congressional status quo in the Volunteer State on Tuesday, as all nine incumbents were reelected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Two Middle Tennessee races in the 5th and 7th Congressional Districts, both of which encompass portions of Nashville, were among the state’s top races to watch, but ultimately incumbent U.S. Reps. Andy Ogles and Mark Green beat out their Democratic competition.

Here’s a look at early, unofficial election results across Tennessee’s congressional districts:

U.S. House of Representatives District 1

The district sits in Northeast Tennessee and includes cities such as Kingsport and Johnson City.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger, R-Kingsport, handily defeated Democrat Kevin Jenkins to secure her second term in office. Independents Richard Baker and Levi Brake were also on the ballot.

U.S. House of Representatives District 2

The district includes a portion of East Tennessee that includes Knoxville.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Knoxville, defeated Democrat Jane George to secure his fourth term in Congress. Burchett was unopposed in the Republican primary earlier this year.
