Tennessee man struck and killed on US 321 in Watauga County: HP

WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – No charges are expected to be filed after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup in Watauga County, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Thursday.

Troopers responded to calls around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday on US-321 near Frank Hidges Drive. Butler, Tennessee native Tyler Vance was found suffering from injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. An initial investigation stated that Vance was in a roadway that was not lighted and wearing dark clothing when he was struck by a Ford pickup. No other injuries were reported.

Neither speed nor impairment are believed to be factors.

No charges are expected, troopers said.
