Tennessee completes lethal injection protocol following hold on executions since 2022

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) has revised the protocol for lethal injection, opening the door for executions to resume in the state. Executions were put on hold by Governor Bill Lee in 2022 when he launched a third-party review of lethal injection testing and protocols. The review has now been completed, TDOC reporting the single drug pentobarbital will be used moving forward.
