WASHINGTON (WJHL) — Tennessee and Virginia will receive a combined $132.4 million in federal funds for Hurricane Helene and other disaster recovery from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The department announced nearly $12 billion in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funds for communities across the country that were impacted by recent disasters, including Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

Tennessee was allocated $85,738,000 to support recovery from Hurricane Helene and the Dec. 9, 2023 tornadoes that impacted Middle Tennessee.
Virginia was allocated $46,670,000 for Helene recovery.
According to HUD, the funds can be used for replacing damaged affordable housing, repairing and upgrading infrastructure, supporting economic revitalization, and implementing disaster mitigation measures.
The funds were made available as part of a disaster relief package passed by Congress in December.
