Texas National Guard Doubles Down on Razor Wire at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass Despite Supreme Court

In the ongoing battle over border security, the Texas National Guard has increased the installation of razor wire at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass

This comes in response to a recent Supreme Court ruling that allows Border Patrol agents to remove barriers along the southern border.

The Biden administration and the state of Texas have been at odds over the use of concertina wire around Eagle Pass. Federal officials argue that the wire endangers safety and hampers rescue efforts, while the state believes it reduces the flow of migrants.

With a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court granted the Biden administration’s request to pause a lower court’s ruling that temporarily blocked federal agents from disturbing the fencing during ongoing litigation. The court’s ruling allows Border Patrol agents to cut down the razor wire.

Governor Greg Abbott, currently traveling in India, responded to the ruling by promising that the legal battle is far from over. He criticized the Biden administration for cutting wire that Texas had installed to prevent illegal crossings, claiming that it encourages unsafe and illegal migration.
