Lt. Gov. Says Texas Will Keep Replacing Border Razor Wire: ‘If They Cut It, We’ll Replace It’

Last week, Texas Gov. Abbott said he was continuing to have officials put up more razor wire at the border even after a Supreme Court ruling

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick on Monday doubled down on his notion that state authorities at the U.S.-Mexico border plan to replace any razor wire fencing removed by border agents who were just granted the ability to do so via a recent Supreme Court ruling.

“We are putting up wire, Martha, anywhere we can and we will continue. We will not stop. If they cut it, we will replace,” the lieutenant governor told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on Monday.

Patrick said he traveled to the border in the event the Biden administration sent border patrol agents to remove the razor wire near Shelby Park, but he was “thankful” they did not.

“We don’t want a confrontation, but we want this border secure,” Patrick said.

The lieutenant governor claimed that prior to the wire fencing, there were nearly 3,000 border crossings a day at Shelby Park, but with it in place there are “virtually” zero.
