Recently, Satanists have gained much attention by the media for making their presence known on school campuses. Some of these schools are elementary schools.
The Satanic Temple makes it clear its members do not actually worship the devil or believe in the existence of Satan or the supernatural. Instead Satan is used as a symbol of free will, humanism and anti-authoritarianism, according to reports.
Yet, some citizens are having a difficult time believing that the “club” is harmless.
On their website, the club links it’s origin to a Satanic Temple, and they perform rituals others also believe to be, not so harmless. The website also pokes fun at pro-lifer’s and states its belief that abortions are rituals, according to the temple.
This statement was taken from the site, “On September 1, 2021, Texas passed S.B. 8, which prohibited anyone from getting an abortion after a detectable fetal tone. The law also allows citizens to sue people who obtained, performed, or helped to perform an abortion. TST filed a lawsuit against Texas, stating that this law prohibits TST members from performing a religious ritual to remove nonviable fetal tissue up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.”
