(Salt Lake City, UT) – Utah Governor Spencer Cox is deploying a select group from the state’s National Guard and the highway patrol to the southern border. The governor says the move is to show support for Texas Governor Gregg Abbott and his Operation Lonestar, a state-led effort to stop immigration. The governor says five guard members will be there for two weeks, while a handful of troopers with drug investigation skills will spend 30 days at the border. The deployment starts on February 26th and will cost about 150-thousand dollars. Cox traveled with other GOP officials to see the operation at Eagle Pass, Texas, last weekend.
