Two high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel were taken into custody in Texas after spending decades evading law enforcement in the United States and Mexico.

According to CNN , López tricked García into boarding a plane to the United States, telling him they were going to inspect a property in Mexico near the U.S. border. Instead, the aircraft landed near El Paso, and the two men were arrested by waiting FBI agents.

Guzmán was reportedly flown to Chicago, while García stayed in El Paso, where he will be arraigned in federal court.

“The Justice Department has taken into custody two additional alleged leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the most violent and powerful drug trafficking organizations in the world,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement .
