Arizona continues to be the land of tacos. Not only is it the epicenter of hard-working families opening taco restaurants to serve recipes handed down by their mothers and grandmothers, but it’s also where so many outside taco restaurants look when expanding their operations. For one reason or another, these brands look to Arizona – and more specifically greater Phoenix – and decide to enter the ring. It’s an already bustling industry here, so it takes something different to stand out. For one Texas-based taco shop, that’s exactly what it is bringing as it preps to open its very first restaurant in not only the Valley but all of Arizona.
Everything is better as a taco, right? Whether you agree with that sentiment or not, it’s basically the rules Velvet Taco lives by, and these are the rules it will bring along with it as it preps to open an all-new Scottsdale restaurant in a couple of weeks.
Poised to open on November 4 officially, Velvet Taco is all about bringing flavors from other traditional meal profiles and shoving it into a tortilla. Ever wonder what chicken tikka masala would taste like in taco form? How about a Cuban sandwich? Maybe chicken shoved into a waffle tortilla? These are the kind of unique creations of tacos you’ll find at Velvet Taco. At the very least, you can at least say it’s original, and at this point, original might be the best way to go in the already overcrowded taco field.
