Time is running out to register for an upcoming forum designed to help Northeast Texas communities learn about flood mitigation funding and resources. The Northeast Texas Flood Funding Forum will be held January 9, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Paris Conference & Event Center. Agencies invited to speak include FEMA, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Texas General Land Office, Texas Water Development Board, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
“By bringing together federal and state agencies with local stakeholders, we’re creating a unique opportunity for our region to address flooding challenges head-on,” said Reeves Hayter, chair of the Lower Red-Sulphur-Cypress Regional Flood Planning Group. “This kind of direct access to funding experts and resources is invaluable for our communities.”
Attendees can expect to receive information about flood mitigation funding, emergency planning, and community resilience strategies. Technical experts will be available to answer specific questions from community members. The free forum offers both in-person and virtual attendance options. Those attending in person will receive a complimentary lunch and networking opportunities with agency representatives.
