Utah Governor: Instagram Teen Accounts Don’t Go Far Enough

(Salt Lake City, UT) – Utah’s governor doesn’t think Instagram’s new protections for teens go far enough. Governor Spencer Cox says the new Teen Accounts mirror some of the protections for kids that are in Utah’s social media law, but he wants more. Utah’s law that requires all sorts of protections for kids, including a ban on marketing teen accounts to other companies. But that law is on hold as it works its way through the courts. The governor says Utah will continue to be at the forefront of protecting children, and said tech companies need to get on-board with lawmakers in the state.
